There are times when a song would keep playing over and over in my mind and I would find myself singing it sometimes even while I am working.

One of such songs that has filled my thoughts lately is “One Thing Remains” by Jesus Culture.

Higher than the mountains that I face
Stronger than the power of the grave
Constant through the trial and the change
One thing….Remains

Your love never fails, never gives up
Never runs out on me.

We all face different mountains in our life’s journey.  Just when we get to the summit with our voices erupting in praise, we find ourselves facing the downward journey into the valley.

In the shifting experiences of life, people come and people go.  Friendships start and friendships end. Fortunes are made and fortunes are lost. One thing that remains like the song above points out is God’s love.

During the time of Jeremiah the prophet, Israel was in a sad state of affairs. Things were so bad that children were begging food from their mothers (Lamentation 2:12), young men and women were being killed with swords (V 2:21), mothers who were formerly known to be compassionate, used their children for food. (V 4:10)

In spite of all this, Jeremiah knew that God’s love had not failed Israel.  “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is they faithfulness”  (Lamentations 3:23)

The second verse of the song above goes like this;

On and on and on and on it goes
It overwhelms and satisfies my soul
And I never, ever have to be afraid
Your love never fails, never gives up
Never runs out on me.

God’s love goes on an on. It is never ending.  Even when you can’t feel His love, you can be assured that it’s there always. God’s love satisfied the soul. There is nothing in this world that is satisfying.  We seek success but once we have achieved one level of success, the euphoria soon dies down and we are reaching for the next level of success.

How many people have said, “If only I had a million dollars” I won’t have to worry about anything again.  This is what spurs many to play the lottery hoping that they would be lucky to win. I recently read an article on twenty one Lottery winners who blew it all.   God’s love is not a lottery. It is available to anyone who open up their hearts to receive it.

I end this writing with the Bridge of that song;

In death, in life, I’m confident
And covered by the power of Your great love
My debt is paid, there is nothing that can
Separate my heart from your great love.

Your love never fails, never gives up
Never runs out on me.

 If you do not know God’s love, I invite you to open your heart to Him today.  He manifested His love for us by giving His only Son Jesus to die for our sins.

No matter where you are, be rest assured that God's love never fails. If He was with the children of Israel even in their mess, you can be sure that God loves you more than you can ever imagine. There is so much love coming to you from Him and that love never runs out.

If you forget everything else I have written here, remember this, God’s love can never run out on you!
