Embarking on a long journey requires careful and adequate preparation. I confess that I often leave preparations for journeys till a day or two before departure, thinking that I don’t have much to pack, only to discover at the last minute, bits and pieces of things that need to be put in place, giving rise to anxiety and worry that I might not be on time. Thankfully, my wife is the opposite. Any time I have a trip to undertake, she ensures that weeks before the time, I start preparing, albeit reluctantly. Several days before the journey, she would check to ensure that I have all the important things packed and if anything comes to mind, she would confirm that I have those things packed. As Christians, we often forget that our lives are full of short a...

It is quite easy for us to think about the things we want in life. If I were to ask everyone here what you want for the next month or year, you would easily come up with a long list of items. If however, I ask you to list out the things you need for that same period, it would take more time and effort to draw up the list and it would be way more shorted than the list of things you want.I also found out that most times circumstances dictate what we see as our most important needs. For instance, during the time of sickness, if anyone asks us what our greatest need is, we would day, “My greatest need right now is to be healed”. If you are out of work, you would see your greatest need to be geeting a job. I have seen mothers literally in nightgowns and without shoes, rushi...

The word "love" is a mere four letters, yet it remains enigmatic and often misunderstood by many. It conjures images of cinematic romance, where a boy and a girl defy great odds to be together, exchanging sweet declarations like, "You are the best thing that happened to me," or "My love for you is like living; without you, I am dead." And predictably, at the movie's conclusion, they tie the knot and live happily ever after. But is this the entirety of love's essence? How do we account for the individuals who leave behind a trail of broken hearts? It's because they may not truly comprehend the meaning and core of love.In the Amplified Bible, love is defined as "true affection for God and man, growing out of God's love for and in us" (1 Corinthians 13:13...

Most mornings, I wake up with a song in my heart. This song can make me feel better, give me hope, or energize me, depending on how I'm feeling. Today, the song I had in my heart was "Still (Hide Me Now)" by Ruben Morgan from Hillsong. This made me think about the difficult times I've been through in the past and how God has been with me.The lyrics of the song goes like this;Verse 1Hide me nowUnder Your wingsCover meWithin Your mighty handChorusWhen the oceans riseAnd thunders roarI will soar with YouAbove the stormFather You are KingOver the floodI will be still and knowYou are GodVerse 2Find rest my soulIn Christ aloneKno...

There are so many things today that is designed specifically to distract us from God. Some of those things are in our face everyday while others seem minor but gradually chip away our attention without us realising it.I previously held a position at a company that provided online users with voucher codes. Several features we developed on the website were strategically designed to capture people's interest and encourage them to make purchases through enticing discounts. The website experienced an immense influx of visitors in search of discount codes. This is just one medium, there is Television, Radio and of course the billboards that flash their images at us especially in major cities in the world. The world seems to be in frenzy to make us look for t...

It is so easy to feel a sense of sadness about the world around us and how far man has departed from God. Everywhere you go, most of what you see or hear are in direct conflict to God’s commands as written in scripture. What personally annoys me most times is the ease at which people use the name of Christ and even the Holy Spirit as swear words. I must confess that it gets to me, especially when on social media or online chats, people actually type those swear words in capital letters. What’s even more annoying is the fact that the same people would not swear using the name of Mohammed, Buddha or others reverred by other religions. This is just one of those examples of man walking and acting in opposition to God’s laws. More and more other a...
